Heavy Duty Engines for Sale

Heavy-duty diesel truck manufacturing brands are always looking to one-up one another by manufacturing the best engines for their vehicles. If you are looking to purchase a heavy-duty diesel truck, you might be interested in learning more about the best heavy-duty truck engine. To make your life easy, we will share a few of the greatest options available to consider.

Cummins Engines

Since Cummins is solely focused on producing engines, all major heavy-duty truck brands, including Freightliner, International, Kenworth, Mack, Peterbilt, Volvo, and Western Star, use Cummins diesel engines. The ISX15 and ISX12 are two diesel engines Cummins produces for heavy-duty vehicles.

2013 saw the production of the newest Cummins engine for heavy-duty vehicles, the ISX15. Generally speaking, the ISX15 has the most excellent fuel efficiency of all sleeper cab diesel engines. A minimum of 400 to a maximum of 600 horsepower are available. The EPA and DOT prefer the ISX15 as well. On-Board Diagnostics is included in the 2013 ISX15 to track and verify the optimal fuel emissions system.

Detroit Diesel Engines

Detroit Diesel is a maker of only diesel engines, and its three primary models are the DD13, DD15, and DD16. The DD15 is often regarded as the best Engine and is widely used by truck manufacturers. Mercedes diesel engines, which are sometimes seen in Freightliner trucks, are also produced by Daimler, which owns Detroit Diesel. Daimler also owns Freightliner and Western Star.

The DD13 is best used for local distribution, LTL shipments, and professional uses like driver training. Because there is a dramatic fall in torque lb.-ft. when brake horsepower (BHP) surpasses 410, the horsepower-to-torque ratio in DD15 engines is better than in DD13 engines. The deeper the cylinder is, the more torque there is, and the longer the connecting rod is. The horsepower is multiplied by 5252/RPM to calculate torque.

Mack MP8 Engine

Workloads on highways are acceptable for the Mack MP8 engine. Additionally, it is effective for industrial applications, such as vehicles utilized by truck driving schools. It boasts a respectable horsepower range of 415 to 505 and 1460–1860 lb.-ft of torque. The new wave motion piston has somewhat increased fuel economy, but the Engine's fuel injectors are not without their problems. The optimal Mack MP8 versions for large rigs are the Maxi Cruise and Eco dyne. The Mack Pinnacle Sleeper trucks use the Mack MP8 engine.

PACCAR Engines

Kenworth and Peterbilt are both owned by Paccar. Both Kenworth and Peterbilt use Cummins engines in addition to Paccar engines. For class 8 trucks, the MX-13 is Paccar's most powerful Engine. It has 405 to 510 horsepower in range. Although the MX-11 may be utilized for heavy-duty applications, lower weights like LTL shipments are where it shines.
